Chỉ cảnh biến động dữ dội, bất thường, không yên ổn, trước hết về thời tiết rồi mở rộng để nói những cơn biến loạn hoặc chính biến làm đảo lộn trật tự xã hội. Thường dùng để gợi tình thế rối ren, dữ dằn và khó lường.
